“Sary-Arka” inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List[Friday, July 11 @ 15:12:58 MSD]



By decision of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee Sary-Arka Steppe and Lakes of the Northern Kazakhstan site was included in the World Heritage List, Kazinform reports.

In the whole, 19 cultural sites and 8 natural sites have been inscribed on the World Heritage List this year. Among them are Monarch Butterfly biosphere Reserve (Mexico), Lagoons of New Caledonia: Reef Diversity and Associated Ecosystems (France), Bahai Holy Places in Haifa and the Western Galilee (Israel), Wooden Churches of the Slovak part of the Carpathian Mountain Area (Slovakia) and others.

Currently the World Heritage List numbers 878 objects in 145 countries.
